This collection is a tribute to my father, each piece is engraved with an anchor on the bottom that was also displayed on his memorial card and the blue glazes refer to the many colour variations of the sea; dark blue, grey, light blue, white, greens, browns, .. The glazes are matt (not shiny) which gives them a calm and neutral look, the blue colour variations bring the pieces alive. 

Amor Fati is a Latin expression meaning Love of Fate / Love of one's fate, and growing up with my father who studied Latin and had a Law degree, the Latin one-liners were all around us. When he wanted to make a point, he would often start with a Latin expression before starting off his explanation or opinion on something. This was the moment we would often roll our eyes as kids. ;-) These two words mean a lot to me now, knowing that in his last months he tried so hard to accept his fate.  

A small part of the profit from selling this collection will be donated to the Palliative Care Unit of UZ Gent, as this is where my father has spent his last days.
